About the Captain:
Psalty Adventures is owned
and operated by Gary Jackson. Gary has been in the diving industry
since becoming an instructor in 1980, and has worked in a variety
of diving arenas since that time. He managed a dive store
in Salt Lake City, Utah for three years while working occassionally
as a commercial diver. Raising sunken house boats, penetrating
pipes for the Central Utah Water Project and inspecting
dams are just a few of his experiences. From 1983 to 1989, Gary
was employed by PADI
International Headquarters. In his role as Western Regional
Training Coordinator, he was responsible for the
implementation of PADI programs to over 200 dive stores in his
13 state region. As a PADI Course Director, Gary
has trained over 2000 PADI Instructors with courses being conducted
in Norway, Sweden, Great Britan, Mexico, Hong Kong,
Taiwan and the United States. He has also been on
staff at SSI Headquarters
as the Regional Representative for the Western United States.
In 1991 Gary started a charter company revolving
around dive boat The Psalty
V. Based on a small group, fast boat concept,
Psalty Adventures booked over 200 days of charters in 1997. With
this growth, Gary has committed himself full time
to the operation of the business. An SSI Instructor Trainer and
PADI Master Instructor, he understands the needs of his customer
and as a result enjoys a 70% return customer booking rate. Garys
qualifications include: Licensed Coast Guard Captain, CPR Instructor
Trainer, SSI Instructor Trainer, Specialty Instructor, Underwater
Photographer, Underwater Videographer and Marine Engine Mechanic.
